Mobil Smiles is a driver rewards programme that rewards loyal customers (you) for shopping at Mobil.
As a registered Mobil Smiles member, you're able to enjoy special promotions and updates on upcoming rewards. Just remember to keep swiping your card or scanning your app each time you fill up at Mobil and opt-in to receive emails for updates on rewards.
No, when you have accumulated enough Mobil Smiles points, you can use your points on fuel purchases or treats in-store. We also have an Opt-In for email to help you keep up to date with all upcoming communications.
Yes, you can join Mobil Smiles and enjoy rewards but you'll need a New Zealand phone number to complete the registration process. Mobil Smiles points earned as part of the programme in New Zealand can only be redeemed for Mobil Smiles rewards in New Zealand. Your points remain valid as long as your account is used within a 12 month period.
To register your Mobil Smiles card, download the Mobil NZ app or click here to register online before 31st December 2025. Once you register, you can start earning and using Mobil Smiles points straight away for fuel and eligible store items.

Yes, you can swipe your registered Mobil Smiles card when you Pay-at-Pump to earn Mobil Smiles points. You can also choose to use your points at the pump.
Your Mobil Smiles points balance will be displayed, then choose the amount of points you would like to use against your fuel purchase – easy!
Pump Mobil Smiles reward options include $3, $5, $10, $30, $50 or $100. Finally, the required Mobil Smiles points will be deducted from your account and the new balance displayed on your receipt or check your balance on the app or online.
To claim Mobil Smiles points on your purchase from a participating site, keep your receipt and call Mobil Smiles Customer Service on 0800 880 361. To redeem fuel discount offers, please speak to staff in-store.
Swipe your registered Mobil Smiles card when you purchase fuel or selected in-store products at Mobil. Earn points instantly on every litre of fuel purchased, no minimum spend required. The length of time it takes to accumulate points will vary depending on your purchases. Earn 1 point for every $1 spent on eligible in store items. Earn 1 point on every litre of regular fuel (including diesel). Earn 1.5 points on every litre of premium fuel 95/98.
As long as your registered Mobil Smiles Card is used just once a year, your points never expire.
No, there is no minimum or maximum amount of litres to earn or redeem points.
You can view your points balance in the Mobil NZ app. Your points balance is also printed on your fuel receipt. If your card is registered, you can log on to mobilsmiles.co.nz before 31st December 2025 and view your points status.
Yes, you can transfer your points to a family or a friend if they are a registered Mobil Smiles member. Just call Mobil Smiles Customer Service on 0800 880 361.
You can use your Mobil Smiles points on fuel or items in-store (excluding tobacco and vaping products).
Redeem the Mobil Smiles points you have collected for fuel savings and products in-store:
- 200 Mobil Smiles points = $3
- 300 Mobil Smiles points = $5
- 500 Mobil Smiles points = $10
- 1,500 Mobil Smiles points = $30
- 2,500 Mobil Smiles points = $50
- 5,000 Mobil Smiles points = $100
Please call Mobil Smiles Customer Service on 0800 880 361 to block your card immediately to prevent misuse. You can pick up a new Mobil Smiles card at a participating Mobil site and have your new card allocated to your Mobil Smiles account.

Mobil Smiles points cannot be awarded when a purchase is made with commercial cards, including but not limited to; Fleetcard, Ruralco card, RD1 Farmsource Card, Farmlands Card or Mobilcard.
If you have registered a card already, you can add two more unregistered cards to your account by going to Manage account and selecting 'Add new Mobil Smiles card'. Enter the last 12 digits of your card number and hit 'Add' and this will be set up automatically. You can have a total of three Mobil Smiles cards associated to your account and will be able to use all three to earn and redeem Smiles points.
From 1 January 2026, cards can only be added in the Mobil NZ app.
You can do this by going to 'Merge cards' in the Menu bar. You'll need to enter the last 12 digits of your existing Mobil Smiles card (we recommend choosing the card you use the most) and then enter the last 12 digits of the second registered Mobil Smiles card you want to merge. You can have a total of three Mobil Smiles cards associated to your account and will be able to use all three to earn and redeem Smiles points. You'll need to enter a few details so that we can process this for you; make sure you enter the email address you use the most so that you don't miss out on offers from us. If you aren't receiving emails from us, you can go to your Account and check that the opt-out tick box is unticked. It will take a few days to process your request, and our Mobil Smiles Customer Service team may get in touch with you if they have any questions.
If you're not receiving emails about our regular offers and member-only promotions, you can update your marketing communications preferences by switching on notifications in the app, or by going to Manage account before 31st December 2025, and untick the opt-out tick box. You need to log in and register if you want to use all features of the app, including to track your Mobil Smiles points and get exclusive offers and rewards.
We think biometric scanning is one of the easiest ways to keep your payment information and your hard-earned Mobil Smiles points safe. But if you’d prefer not to use it, no worries, you’ll still be able to keep your information safe while using the app with a PIN.
Absolutely, you can have up to three cards on your account - your main one and two back-ups. If you choose to load multiple cards, be sure to select your preferred payment card in the app.
If you’re having a hard time getting to your Mobil Smiles points or rewards, we recommend you:
- Restart your phone
- Uninstall and reinstall the app

No, all you really need is the Mobil app as it works just like your physical card. This means that you can earn and redeem Mobil Smiles points just with your phone. But we recommend keeping your physical card as a back-up.
Yes, that’s one of the great features we’ve built into the app. To use Pay in Car, you will need to register your debit/credit cards on the app. Most major AU and NZ debit/credit cards are accepted, with the exception of EFTPOS. Once you’re set up in the app, all you have to do to use Pay in Car is:
- Drive up to the pump
- Open the Mobil app and select Pay in Car
- Select your pump number
- Select the fuelling amount
- Select your preferred payment method
- If available, select reward or redeem your Mobil Smiles points
- Then click ‘Confirm selection’ and wait for payment authorisation before you get out of the car to fuel up
After fuelling up, payment is taken automatically, so you don’t need to go inside to pay. Your receipt will be stored in the app and will also be sent via email to you, so you can keep track of how much you were charged, how many Mobil Smiles points you’ve earned, and any rewards you redeemed.
Pay in Car is really convenient. To make sure you’ve got enough in the bank to pay for your fuel; a temporary hold for the full selected fuelling amount will be placed on your account by your bank. Once the transaction has been processed by your bank, only the actual cost of the fuel will be deducted, and the rest will be returned to you. While held, you won’t be able to use the funds. It may take between 2 and 10 days for the funds to be available to use, depending on your bank. If you have any questions or need a hand, please contact your bank.
If you realise you’ve selected the wrong pump before filling up, just pick up the nozzle of the selected pump and put it back without fuelling to cancel the transaction. Alternatively, if you wait 3 minutes without dispensing any fuel, the transaction will automatically time out and you can start over. If you’ve authorised someone else’s pump and they’ve started fuelling, please let one of the station staff know immediately. They’re happy to help out.
We use your location to connect you to the Mobil station you’re visiting so you can freely use Pay in Car. Enabling your location settings won’t allow us to track your movements once you leave the Mobil station.
If your phone’s having trouble finding your location, then you won’t be able to use some of the app features like Pay in Car or My Smiles card. However, you can help to improve the location accuracy of your phone by connecting to the free WIFI available at most Mobil stations.
Yes. Besides Pay in Car, you can also use the app to One scan – Pay in Store with the cashier.
- Select “My Smiles card”
- Select any available rewards you wish to use
- Change the payment method to your previously loaded payment card
- Let the cashier know you would like to use the app to pay.
- Scan the QR code and payment, points earning and reward redemption will all take place together - easy
Yes, you will need an internet connection to use the app via your mobile data provider, or you can use the free WIFI available at most Mobil stations.
This is one of the best things about Mobil Smiles points. As long as you complete a transaction using the Mobil app or your physical card at least once a year, your points won’t expire.
Staying on top of promotions and Mobil Smiles points in the app is easy, all you have to do is enable push notifications in your mobile device settings.
Unfortunately no, the Mobil app can only be used in New Zealand.
You can find out more about rewards in either the rewards section or the inbox of your app. From here you can click each reward to find out more.
When pre-paying, you can redeem most of the rewards in your app, including cents per litre off fuel, free carwash or free coffee. You won’t be able to redeem Mobil Smiles points rewards as these are only available to use after fuelling or when using Pay in Car.
If you’ve got a cent per litre off fuel discount reward and have earned enough Mobil Smiles points to redeem $3 or $5, you can use these together to get even more value when fuelling. To do this, go to the Rewards page of your app, select the ‘Use multiple rewards’ button and then select the rewards you want to use.
Don’t forget that you can only select and use one Mobil Smiles points reward ($3, $5, $10, $30, $50 or $100) per transaction.
If you have enough points and want to redeem for more than $100, you can do this by going in-store to a cashier who will then help you through the transaction.
Unfortunately, once your reward has expired, you won’t be able to use it. But we’ll keep sending you great rewards, so keep an eye out to get yours and just check the expiry date to make sure you don’t miss out next time.
Losing your phone feels bad enough without losing your hard-earned Mobil Smiles points. So if this happens, please get in touch with Mobil Smiles Customer Service on 0800 880 361 as soon as you can so we can suspend your account.
No problem, simply select ‘Forgot Password’ when logging in and select ‘Reset Password’ after entering your registered email. A link to reset your password will be sent to the email you registered with us.
It’s really frustrating when you lose your card, or if it gets stolen. If this happens you can block it by going into your app settings, selecting ‘Report lost or stolen card’ and then selecting ‘Block card’. You can also use these steps if you just don’t want to use a physical card anymore. If you still want a back-up card, you can add a new card to your account.
When blocking your Mobil Smiles card, only your physical card gets blocked. So, there’s nothing to worry about, you’ll still be able to use the app.
If you forget which email address you’ve registered to the app, just select ‘Can’t Remember Email’ when logging in. You’ll then be directed to register a new account. Don’t worry about the points on your old account, you’ll be able to transfer them across later.
